Davenport's Chocolates
Somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight. (Moisture can damage the appearance and taste of chocolate, which is why we don’t recommend storing chocolate in the fridge. If you do like eating cold chocolate you need to make sure it is sealed inside a waterproof container.)
The shelf life of our chocolate products range from 3-12 months. Please check each individual product listing; the shelf life will be listed in the details tab.
Chocolate bloom is a white/grey pattern that can appear on the surface of chocolate when it has been subjected to changes in temperature or humidity. It is actually made up of sugar and/or fat particles separating from cocoa, as the structure of the chocolate has become unstable. It is safe to eat, but will not have quite the same ‘mouthfeel’ (as the particles have separated, they will not ‘melt in the mouth’ in quite the same way). It can also occur when the oil from nuts leaches through the chocolate, so can occasionally happen when nutty chocolates have been subject to changes in temperature or humidity.
As part of Cocoa Horizons, our chocolate is sourced within a scheme which goes beyond the fair trade parameters (which stipluate only 20% of the products ingredients comply). The Cocoa Horizons scheme aims to improve the livelihoods of cocoa farmers and their communities through the promotion of sustainable, entrepreneurial farming, improved productivity, and community development, which protect nature and children. We hope you will enjoy eating our chocolate, knowing that it is sourced both ethically and sustainability. You can read more about it here: cocoahorizons.org.
Our dark chocolate is vegan, so any of our products made purely with our dark chocolate will be suitable for vegans (eg: Orangettes, Gingers, Ginger & Lavender Bar).
Each product listing has an ingredients listing, please check for the allergens on each item. We do use milk, soya, eggs, wheat and nuts across the premises, so we are unfortunately not able to guarantee our products are free from trace elements.
We aim to dispatch your chocolates the following working day after your order has been received. We use royal mail’s 48 hour service to be the most cost efficient method of delivery for parcels under 2kg, and a courier service (DPD) for parcels over 2kg. You will therefore be likely to receive your chocolates 3 working days after placing your order. However, unfortunately there will occasionally be delays with the postal service, and we ask for your patience during busy times. Please order with as much notice as possible in the month before Easter and Christmas, as we may take a little longer to process during these busy times.
Our gift boxes are designed to be letterbox friendly. Where possible, we will pack your order to give the best chance that it can be delivered even if you are out. However, for larger items and multiple items this is not always possible.
We package all our orders in sturdy cardboard boxes to offer excellent protection for our chocolates. However, should a package arrive damaged, please contact us with a photo at info@davenportschocolates.co.uk and we will arrange for a replacement or refund.
If you have made a mistake with your order, please notify us straight away on info@davenportschocolates.co.uk, and we will do our best to rectify the situation for you. Unfortunately, we cannot process cancellations after your order has been dispatched.
If your order has not arrived within 5 working days of placing your order, please get in touch if you would like us to track it down for you. We will be able to provide tracking updates from Royal Mail, or a courier service for larger parcels. It may be worth ringing up your local royal mail sorting office to see if they have your parcel, as sometimes the cards they leave may have gone astray. If your parcel has not arrived after 10 working days, we will consider it lost, and offer a replacement or refund.
We are currently only able to delivery to UK addresses and BFPO addresses.
If you are looking to place a large order, please contact us on info@davenportschocolates.co.uk with your requirements, and we will get back to you with a quote.
We do like to work with other independent businesses who have a passion for artisan products, and can supply our chocolates to trade customers. Please email info@davenportschocolates.co.uk for further details.
