#Chocollaboration Ep9: Hummingbird Drinks Company

This was one of our unique collaboration workshops (#chocollaboration), where we invite a local producer to share their wonderful products and ingredients with us. The idea is to enjoy creativity and experimentation in a professional chocolate kitchen, as you get to try and taste different recipes and combinations.

In this event, we welcomed Chris & Becca from Hummingbird Drinks, in what was a very exciting evening of creativity with chocolate and cocktails. Hummingbird (hummingbirddrinks.co.uk) create a range of RTD (ready to drink) cocktails that give you a drink prepared by an expert mixologist, supplied in a retro bottle ready for you to serve at home over ice.

I was over the moon when they agreed to be the guest collaborator at our  #chocollaboration evening in February. We got to taste 3 of Hummingbird's amazing cocktails, (Hummingbird Smash, Mexican Water and El Colibri Daiquiri) with expert knowledge from Chris demonstrating how they are made. I haven't rubbed shoulders with very many mixologist's but I was super impressed with Chris's expertise, balancing flavour, acidity, strength and profiles, and comparing different sources for each ingredient for particular characteristics.

It was an absolute joy and privilege to make chocolates  and a cocktail infused dessert with Hummingbird drinks. As ever, I loved seeing the guests grow in confidence in their own palate and skill through the evening. It was an exciting and delicious evening of tasting and creating in our 'masterchef' style kitchen, and and I would definitely hope to work with Hummingbird Drinks again (so watch this space!)
